Resbid is a sustained-release form of N-acetylcysteine (NAC), the acetylated form of the amino acid cysteine.
Cysteine is the rate-limiting building block of glutathione — the body's principal endogenous antioxidant, the molecule the liver leans on hardest during phase II detoxification. Supplying cysteine as NAC supports the body's own normal glutathione production, which is why NAC has become one of the most widely used nutrients in functional practice.
Plain NAC is poorly tolerated by some people, particularly at higher doses. This is a slow-release formulation designed for exactly that person: the release is spread out rather than delivered all at once, which tends to make it gentler.
It is used to support normal antioxidant status, healthy respiratory function, and the liver's ordinary detoxification pathways.
