Royal jelly is the substance nurse bees secrete to feed the queen. Every larva in the hive receives it for the first three days; only the one destined to become queen continues to receive it. On that diet she grows larger than her sisters, becomes fertile, and lives for years where they live for weeks. The colony has been making this decision, by way of a food, for a very long time.
What is in it: a natural complement of B vitamins — it is notably rich in pantothenic acid — along with amino acids, proteins, trace minerals, and the fatty acid 10-HDA, which occurs nowhere else in nature.
It is taken as a whole-food nutritional supplement, used to support normal energy and general vitality.
