Annatto Tocotrienols 125 mg

Annatto is the seed of Bixa orellana, a small rainforest tree whose brick-red pulp has colored food and skin across Central and South America for centuries. It is also the only known botanical source of tocotrienols that carries essentially no tocopherol.

That absence matters. Vitamin E is a family of eight compounds — four tocopherols, four tocotrienols — and they compete. Alpha-tocopherol, the form in most vitamin E capsules, interferes with tocotrienol uptake when the two are taken together. Nearly every other tocotrienol source (rice bran, palm) arrives with tocopherol attached. Annatto does not.

This product uses DeltaGold®, a solvent-free annatto extract standardized to roughly 90% delta-tocotrienol and 10% gamma-tocotrienol — the two isomers with the shortest side chains and the greatest freedom to move within cell membranes. Tocotrienols function as lipid-phase antioxidants, quenching free radicals inside the membrane itself, and they participate in the normal regulation of lipid metabolism.

Take it away from tocopherol-containing multivitamins, and with fat. It is fat-soluble, and absorption follows the meal.
