Black Elderberry Extract

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) has been used in European folk practice for about as long as there are records of it. The tree was planted at the edge of the garden and the dark berries were cooked down each autumn, before anyone could have said why.

What that tradition arrived at empirically, chemistry now describes: the berries are unusually dense in anthocyanins, the deep purple flavonoids that give them their color and rank among the more potent antioxidants available from food. This is a concentrated extract standardized for them.

It is used to support normal immune function through the colder months and to help the body manage oxidative stress. Made without the sugar load that comes with nearly every elderberry syrup on the shelf, and free of the common allergens.
