Berberine is the alkaloid that gives barberry root, goldenseal, and Oregon grape their yellow color. It has been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese practice for centuries and is now one of the most heavily researched plant compounds in nutritional science.

Its problem has always been absorption — taken plainly, very little of it reaches circulation. This formulation is liposome-enhanced: the berberine is carried inside a phospholipid vesicle that improves uptake, so a smaller dose does the work of a larger one. Berberine is used to support healthy glucose metabolism, normal lipid levels already within a healthy range, and a balanced gut microbiome.
