Turmeric root is not one compound but three. The yellow fraction of Curcuma longa — the curcuminoids — consists of curcumin proper and two close relatives, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Most extracts isolate curcumin alone. C3 keeps the complete complex, which is what the rhizome actually contains and what four thousand years of South Asian kitchens and pharmacopoeias were working with.
Curcuminoids are polyphenols. They donate electrons to free radicals, support the body's normal antioxidant enzyme systems, and play a role in maintaining the normal regulation of the inflammatory response — the ordinary, healthy version of that response, which the body needs and uses.
The honest difficulty with curcumin is absorption. It is poorly water-soluble, rapidly conjugated in the gut wall and liver, and cleared quickly. Taking it with fat and with black pepper improves the picture; taking it on an empty stomach with water largely does not. This is not a footnote — it is the central practical fact about the compound, and a supplier who does not mention it is not telling you much.
Hypoallergenic, free of diluents, binders, and fillers.
