Caprylic acid is an eight-carbon fatty acid found in coconut oil and, in smaller amounts, in goat's milk and palm kernel. Its name comes from capra, the Latin for goat. It sits in the medium-chain family, short enough to be absorbed without the elaborate bile-and-lymph handling that longer fats require, and it has been used in traditional practice for generations as a support for the normal ecology of the digestive tract.

Caprystatin supplies 100 mg of caprylic acid per tablet, naturally derived from coconut oil, and is used to support a healthy balance of the intestinal environment.

The formulation is the point. Caprylic acid taken plain is absorbed almost immediately in the stomach and upper small intestine, which means very little of it ever reaches the lower gut. Each Caprystatin tablet is enterically coated to resist gastric acid and release its contents slowly further down, where the ingredient is meant to do its work. This is a case where the delivery system, not the raw dose, determines whether the substance is present where you want it.

90 enteric-coated tablets.
