A free radical is a molecule with an unpaired electron — a small, restless imbalance that resolves itself by taking an electron from whatever is nearest, which is usually a lipid membrane, a protein, or a strand of DNA. Oxidative metabolism produces them constantly. It is the price of breathing.
Antioxidants are electron donors. They absorb the imbalance and remain stable afterward, which is what makes them useful. But they do not all work in the same place: some are water-soluble and patrol the cytosol, others are fat-soluble and sit in the membrane, and some regenerate the others once spent. This is why a network tends to outperform a single high-dose nutrient.
Free Radical Quenchers is Ecological Formulas' assembly of reagent-grade nutrients selected for their antioxidant properties, formulated to cover both the aqueous and lipid phases. It supports the body's normal defenses against oxidative stress.
One note on sequencing: it is intended to be taken apart from Co-Enzyme B Complex, whose B vitamins act in overlapping antioxidant pathways.
