Hesperidin is the bioflavonoid of the citrus peel. It is named for the Hesperides, the nymphs of the golden apples in Greek myth, which later readers took to mean oranges. The compound is most concentrated not in the juice but in the white pith and the peel, the parts we throw away, which is why ordinary citrus consumption supplies relatively little of it.

Bioflavonoids were first described in the 1930s by Szent-Györgyi, who noticed that purified vitamin C did not fully reproduce the effects of the crude paprika and lemon extracts it came from. Something else in the plant was working alongside it. Hesperidin is one of those companions, and the two are still commonly paired for that reason. Each capsule supplies 550 mg of hesperidin with 30 mg of ascorbic acid.

Hesperidin is an antioxidant that helps the body defend against free radicals, and it is used to support the normal integrity of capillaries and the healthy structure of blood vessel walls. Vitamin C contributes independently, being required for normal collagen formation. Supplied in vegetarian capsules, without diluents, binders, or fillers.

60 vegetarian capsules.
