Isotonic® Mineral Formula (Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate)

Magnesium and potassium do their work as ions, and they do it in relation to each other. Potassium is the principal cation inside the cell; magnesium is the cofactor for the ATPase pump that keeps it there. Depleted magnesium makes potassium harder to retain — which is why supplementing one without the other is often futile, and why this formula supplies both.

Both minerals are bound here to aspartate, an amino acid carrier. Mineral salts differ sharply in how well they are absorbed and how well they are tolerated; the aspartate chelate is used because it is gentler on the gut than the inorganic salts and because the carrier itself participates in cellular metabolism.

Magnesium is a cofactor in several hundred enzymatic reactions, including every one that spends ATP. Potassium supports normal nerve conduction, normal muscle contraction, and normal fluid balance. Together they are used to help maintain healthy ionic equilibrium.
