Mucopolysaccharides, now more often called glycosaminoglycans, are the long sugar chains that give connective tissue its particular character: slippery, resilient, and capable of holding many times their weight in water. They are what makes cartilage compress and rebound, and what gives the walls of blood vessels their elasticity. Chondroitin sulfate is the best known of them.
This concentrate supplies 300 mg of naturally occurring glycosaminoglycans, including chondroitin polysulphates, extracted by papain hydrolysis. The choice of enzyme matters. Papain, the proteolytic enzyme of the papaya, cleaves the protein core gently enough to leave the sugar chains intact, where harsher acid or heat extraction would fragment them.
Each capsule also carries 50 mg of papain and 30 mg of vitamin C. The vitamin C is not incidental: ascorbate is a required cofactor for the enzymes that hydroxylate proline and lysine during collagen formation, which means the body cannot build connective tissue without it. Together the ingredients are used to support the normal structure of connective tissue, healthy joint cartilage, and the normal integrity of blood vessel walls.
90 capsules, 300 mg each.
