Niacin has a well-earned reputation for the flush. Within twenty minutes of a meaningful dose, nicotinic acid triggers a prostaglandin-mediated dilation of the skin's capillaries, and the result is a hot, red, prickling sensation across the face and chest. It is harmless and it passes, but it is enough to stop most people from taking niacin at all.
Niasitol is the chemist's answer. It is inositol hexanicotinate: a single molecule of inositol with six molecules of nicotinic acid esterified to it, a physiologically stable structure that binds two essential nutrients together. Because the niacin is released slowly through hydrolysis rather than arriving all at once, the flush does not occur. Each capsule supplies 400 mg.
Niacin, vitamin B3, is the precursor to NAD and NADP, the coenzymes that carry electrons through nearly every energy-yielding reaction in the cell. It is required for normal energy metabolism and is used to support healthy circulation and the maintenance of blood lipid levels already within the normal range. Inositol contributes its own role in cell membrane signaling.
Well tolerated by sensitive individuals. Free of corn, soy, yeast, wheat, egg, milk, and other common allergens.
