Paracan MYC (Grapefruit Seed Extract 212 mg)

Grapefruit seed extract is drawn from the seed and pulp of Citrus paradisi, the accidental West Indian hybrid of pomelo and sweet orange. The seeds are bitter and are ordinarily discarded; the extract concentrates their polyphenols, principally naringenin and related flavonoids, which are the compounds responsible for that bitterness.

Citrus flavonoids belong to the same broad family as the bioflavonoids Albert Szent-Györgyi isolated alongside vitamin C in the 1930s. They function as antioxidants, donating electrons to neutralize free radicals, and they participate in the body's normal detoxification and antioxidant pathways.

The distinction in this product is physical rather than botanical. Paracan-MYC is a mycelized extract — the lipophilic constituents are dispersed into a water-soluble matrix. Grapefruit seed polyphenols are poorly soluble in water on their own, and absorption is the limiting factor with most botanical extracts. Mycelization addresses that directly.

Traditionally, citrus seed preparations have been used to support normal gastrointestinal and urinary tract function.
