Bovine Myelin Extract 200 mg

Myelin is the insulation on a nerve. It is a spiral of lipid membrane wrapped around the axon by a supporting cell, and it is what allows a signal to jump from gap to gap instead of crawling down the fiber — the difference between a nerve impulse traveling at one meter per second and a hundred. Myelin basic protein is the structural protein that holds the layers of that spiral together.

Sphingolin is a specially prepared bovine source of myelin sheath, naturally rich in myelin basic protein and in the sphingolipids that give the material its name. It is a glandular-type preparation in the older nutritional tradition: supplying the tissue's own constituents as dietary raw material.

The proteins and enzymes in myelin are delicate, and ordinary heat processing destroys them. Sphingolin is lyophilized — freeze-dried under vacuum — to preserve them intact. It is used to support the normal structure and function of nervous tissue.

Free of corn, soy, yeast, wheat, egg, and other common allergens.
