Sulbutiamine was developed in Japan in the 1960s. Researchers there were studying thiamine deficiency and ran into a limitation of the vitamin itself: thiamine is water-soluble and crosses the blood-brain barrier only sluggishly, so raising blood levels does not reliably raise brain levels. Their solution was to bind two modified thiamine molecules together with a disulfide bridge, producing a fat-soluble derivative that passes into the central nervous system far more readily.

That is the entire argument for this form. Thiamine, vitamin B1, is required for normal carbohydrate metabolism; as thiamine pyrophosphate it serves as the coenzyme for pyruvate dehydrogenase and other enzymes that feed fuel into the Krebs cycle. The brain is among the most thiamine-dependent tissues in the body, and it has no fat stores of its own to draw on.

Thiamentia supplies 100 mg of sulbutiamine per capsule. It is used to support normal energy metabolism, healthy mitochondrial function, and mental clarity and alertness. Made hypoallergenic, with no diluents, binders, or fillers.

60 capsules, 100 mg each.
