Uridine is one of the four bases of RNA, the pyrimidine that pairs with adenine when genetic information is transcribed. But it has a second life outside the nucleus, and that second life is why it is sold as a supplement.
Through the Kennedy pathway, uridine is a rate-limiting precursor for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, the most abundant phospholipid in cell membranes. Neurons are unusually demanding here: they must build and maintain vast surface areas of membrane in their dendrites and synapses, and the raw material for that construction is drawn from uridine, choline, and omega-3 fatty acids working in concert. This is the reason uridine is so often taken alongside DHA and a choline source rather than on its own.
Uridine-5'-monophosphate is the nucleotide form, the same compound found naturally in human milk and in organ meats. Each capsule supplies 300 mg. It plays a role in the normal synthesis of membrane phospholipids and is used to support healthy neuronal membrane structure and normal cognitive function.
Hypoallergenic, made without diluents, binders, or fillers.
