Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the form your skin makes from sunlight, and the form the body uses most efficiently. Strictly speaking it is not a vitamin at all but a prohormone: the liver and kidneys convert it into calcitriol, a signaling molecule with receptors in nearly every tissue of the body.
D3 supports normal calcium absorption and bone mineralization, healthy immune function, and normal mood and neuromuscular function. Levels fall in winter, at higher latitudes, in people who work indoors, and in anyone with darker skin — which is to say, in most people, most of the time. It is a nutrient worth measuring rather than guessing at.
Delivered in a gel cap suspended in oil, because D3 is fat-soluble and absorbs poorly without one. Free of corn, wheat, soy, and yeast.
Available in 1,000 IU (25 mcg) and 10,000 IU (250 mcg) gel caps
